Benga Mavinga

Benga Mavinga is a Cologne-based Congolese multidisciplinary artist whose work explores identity, memory, cultural heritage through visual art and installation, reflecting on diasporic histories.
He participated in New Afro's exhibition Naza Po Tozali… On The Way To Find Myself (2025) at the Institut Français Mainz, where he presented Kimuntu. Composed of photographs taken in the Democratic Republic of Congo and unfolding in four chapters, the project traces a diasporic heroine’s journey… from the ruins of the Kongo Kingdom to a present marked by wounds and hopes, where images become both testimonies of pain and expressions of resilience.
