Ibaaku

Ibaaku, also known as the Sonic Poet, is a leading figure in Senegalese electronic music, known for his immersive soundscapes that merge music, video, fashion and performance art. Blending futuristic electronic production with traditional Senegalese influences, his work creates a dialogue between past, present and future.

As part of New Afro’s exhibition Restitution… et après ? in 2024 (Institut Français), he presented a musical performance conceived as a ritualistic experience within a space curated by Cheria Essieke. The performance unfolded in dialogue with a projection of Looty by Chidi Nwaubani, creating an immersive environment at the intersection of sound, image and Afrofuturist imagination.
