Nuits Balnéaires
Nuits Balnéaires, a multidisciplinary visual artist, art director, and poet from Côte d'Ivoire based in Grand-Bassam, blends poetry and photography to evoke both nostalgia for the past and imagination for the future. Night and sea, recurring elements in his work, are not only embedded in his artist name but also serve as profound symbols.
He uses the coast as a stage representing encounters between different worlds and the sea as a memory of time, a vessel between territories and cultures.
"He reveals another dimension of the world, filled with poetry, light, beauty, rituals, and spirituality," writes Emilie Regnier, photographer and mentor of the West Africa Visual Journalism Fellowship.
Nuits Balnéaires plays a key role in the emergence of the Ivorian art scene and stands out as one of the leading voices among young creators in Abidjan.
He was also featured in the exhibition "Restitution… und dann?" where he presented works at the Institut français in Mainz that explore the tradition, spirituality, and culture of the N'zima people from Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana.
