CHÉRIA ESSIEKE BAYER
My curatorial practice explores questions of identity, cultural heritage, postcolonial memory, and decolonial narratives. With an academic background in political science and intercultural communication, I develop research-driven and collaborative projects that connect African and European creative ecosystems. As the founder of New Afro, a cultural platform and creative agency, I curate exhibitions and cultural programs that highlight the richness and plurality of African artistic perspectives while creating international opportunities for artists of African descent from both the continent and the diaspora. Through exhibitions, talks, and interdisciplinary cultural programming, my work aims to challenge dominant narratives, foster dialogue, and contribute to more inclusive and critically engaged cultural spaces.
Ma pratique curatoriale explore des questions d'identité, de patrimoine culturel, de mémoire postcoloniale et de récits décoloniaux. Fort d'une formation académique en sciences politiques et en communication interculturelle, je développe des projets de recherche collaboratifs qui connectent les écosystèmes créatifs africains et européens. En tant que fondateur de New Afro, une plateforme culturelle et agence créative, je conçois des expositions et des programmes culturels qui mettent en lumière la richesse et la pluralité des perspectives artistiques africaines, tout en créant des opportunités internationales pour les artistes d'origine africaine, qu'ils soient du continent ou de la diaspora. À travers des expositions, des conférences et une programmation culturelle interdisciplinaire, mon travail vise à remettre en question les récits dominants, à favoriser le dialogue et à contribuer à des espaces culturels plus inclusifs et critiquement engagés.
